Ian Goodwin visited us onsite yesterday. It was a follow up visit after our annual health and Safety review in December. We’d been having a few issues with our online documentation. She's very knowledgeable, comes back to me quickly, is very patient putting up with my endless questions and she talks through issues in terms that I understand which is essential to me. I dealt with two people mainly. Tom Cowderoy on the advice side and Katie Mears on the Face to Face side. In the end the way the case progressed didn't require us to use Face to Face on this occassion. However, throughout the process I found Tom and Katie, professional and efficient. Our query was regarding how to convert annual leave and bank holiday entitlement from days to hours, then how to pro-rate it for a new starter who works, Wed, Thu, Fri and Sat (different hours on different days), plus how to treat the bank holiday entitlement given that they don't work a standard Mon-Fri. Rehana even added a calculation to the spreadsheet we had sent, which was really useful!

The knowledge of the consultant and how he conducted the visit was excellent. He used languages and scenarios extremely well to ensure that we understood why the monitoring checks and audits were conducted effectively. He applied legislation and regulations to his explanations and demonstrated a firm understanding of health & safety.

He went through each question thoroughly and showed me what the expectations were, alongside what we were already doing to ensure that we were carrying out our health & safety recordings effectively.

He did not use any jargon and worked at my pace to ensure I understood the context of the visit.
