Data Protection AdvertIf you have seen a copy of yesterdays Sunday Independent you may have noticed some advice provided by Peninsula for any employers who use CCTV. Data Protection is set to become one of the hot topics for HR in 2013 and 2014 with new EU regulations to come into force.

Employers who use CCTV currently are covered by the Data Protection regulations and must adhere to these when it comes to the use and retention of personal data. We have posted previously on the pitfalls of this and employers can face hefty fines for breaches.

If you want to use CCTV, or currently have CCTV in place, you must ensure that you have an up to date data protection policy which outlines how and why you will use and retain any personal data.
