Minimum wage rates in the Contract Cleaning Sector
The Employment Regulation (Amendment) Order (Contract Cleaning Joint Labour Committee) 2022 came into effect on 1 April 2022.
This Employment Regulation Order (ERO) fixes the statutory minimum rates of pay and other conditions of employment for workers employed in the contract cleaning industry.
Contract cleaning minimum rates of pay
This ERO replaced an ERO that was signed in 2020 for the Contract Cleaning Sector.
From 1 April 2023, the basic minimum rates of pay for workers in the contract cleaning sector are:
Age | Hourly Rate of pay |
Under 18 | €8.09 |
18 years old | €9.24 |
19 years old | €10.40 |
20 years old + | €11.90 |
Another increase to €12.30 per hour (20 years old +) will apply from 1 April 2024.
Conditions of employment
The ERO also specifies certain minimum conditions of employment in relation to overtime, uniforms, payslips, annual leave, sick leave and a range of other statutory employee benefits.
It is vital for employers in this sector to be familiar with the ERO and to comply with the minimum rates of pay and other employment conditions set out in the ERO.
