Last night’s TV3 programme ‘caught on camera’ highlighted the fraudulent use of tills and other workplace systems, continuing with employees who make false compensation claims.
Two of the case studies showed employees caught on CCTV stealing approximately €60K of cash and goods from their employers over many months. One of these cases ended in an unfair dismissal claim due to the employer not following the correct line of investigation even though the employee had been habitually stealing.
The programme highlighted the requirement for fair policies and procedures, cash handling and CCTV specifically. The episode also examined fraudulent use of tills and other workplace systems in addition to employees who make false compensation claims.
