About this upcoming session
Addictions, whether substance use (drugs & alcohol), or behavioral (gambling), can have a devastating impact on an individual’s health, relationships, and overall quality of life.
In the workplace, addictions may affect performance and lead to distracted work, unauthorized absences, conduct issues, poor hygiene, requests for wage advances, and higher risk of accidents and injuries.
Under Canadian human rights law, disability includes physical, psychological, and mental conditions. This means addiction qualifies as a disability in Canada. If you fire an employee for a suspected or known addiction, you may be opening your business up to wrongful dismissal claims.
Join our experts, Olivia Cicchini and Robert Babcock, for our upcoming webinar and get guidance on how to identify and address addictions in the workplace.
At the webinar, you’ll learn:
Types of addictions
How to spot an addict
Addictions and human rights law
HR policies you need to manage addictions
Employer obligations on handling addictions
And more…
