Background

Playing golf with clubs that have not been fitted for your swing is like walking in ill-fitted shoes. You’ll be uncomfortable and it’ll cramp your style.

Professional fitting of golf equipment is especially important for beginners. Picking the wrong clubs can lead to poor swing development and make the game all the more harder for you.

At Tour Experience Golf, cutting-edge fitting technology is used to analyze your game with your current clubs. The Ontario-based club fitters and builders custom fit and build your clubs to your exact specifications, so that you can perform your best.

“We work with clients trying to improve their golf game and we work with them to get them the best equipment, whether that be working with the client equipment or new equipment,” says Tracey Fraser, Director of Operations, at Tour Experience Golf (TXG).

TXG has been a Peninsula client since March 2020.

Challenges

Tracey says they wanted to ensure they were compliant when it came to HR and occupational health and safety (OHS).

Health and Safety

“The health and safety legislation can be difficult to follow,” says Tracey. “There are so many mandatory training requirements that your staff have to go through. As a retail and manufacturing company, I wanted to make sure we covered everything for all our different departments that deal with different risks every day.”

With workplace health and safety inspections increasing due to COVID-19, Tracey says it was important to have all information clearly documented. TXG currently has a staff of 14.

HR management

Peninsula helped TXG with HR documentation, policies, employment contracts, their employee handbook and health & safety policy.

HR management, says Tracey, goes beyond simply complying with the provincial employment standards legislation. For instance, employees may have questions, or a situation may arise, for which clarity or guidance may not be easily available.

Peninsula’s expert guidance for such daily challenges has made a world of difference.

“It is nice to know that the information I am getting is up to date and the best course of action should anything further happen down the line,” says Tracey.

“I know I am doing everything by the book. It allows me peace of mind. I can focus on my business and not have to worry about whether or not I am dealing with an HR problem in the right manner,” she says.

Tracey says the decision to sign up with Peninsula was an easy one. “Peninsula had great reviews. They’ve won awards for their service,” she says. “And for the price that was charged, I got so much more worth for my money paying Peninsula’s monthly fee vs hiring an HR person direct.”

“I got a whole team with Peninsula that can answer all my questions 24/7 and get me with all the information I need. A one-off HR person would have cost me more money,” she points out.

BrightHR

Tracey says she finds BrightHR (Peninsula’s HR management software for clients) to be another beneficial feature.

“BrightHR makes HR documentation and templates available to me. It makes it easy to transfer that information to my employees as well,” she says.

“I love that all our staff documentation is uploaded on BrightHR. If an employee wants to look at their contract or the health and safety manual, or our COVID policies, they can just log in and do that on their own. They don’t have to ask somebody for that information,” Tracey says.

“I also use BrightHR for approving staff vacation requests. It is nice and simple to see and approve or decline requests. It is great,” she says.

COVID-19

Tracey says Peninsula’s support during the pandemic has been exceptionally helpful.

“After any new government announcement, you get an email from Peninsula that clearly outlines any of the new requirements or provisions that came into force,” she explains. “So, if you missed the news, there is always the follow-up from Peninsula outlining the new changes.”

It can be hard to follow the ever-changing COVID-19 public health restrictions. “Peninsula was able to confirm whether we were able to open a couple of times,” says Tracey, “and clarify whether we were at the green level of reopening or at the red. It is convenient that we can phone them and ask them those questions,” she says.

BrightHR’s new staff vaccination tracking feature – VaccTrak – is also something, she says, they’ve started using.

VaccTrak is an online tool that helps employers keep track of employees who’ve received the COVID-19 vaccine. Among other helpful features, it also includes a vaccine awareness course.

The Peninsula Service

Tracey says she particularly likes using Peninsula’s 24/7 advice line.

“I work from home. I have a toddler. I have different routines of the day. It is great that there is always somebody available to answer all my questions,” she says.

The advisors are also quick to get back in case they don’t have the answers right away. “They are able to get back to me very quickly and email me the answer,” she says.

Tracey says she would one hundred per cent recommend Peninsula to other businesses.
