“We also provide a variety of RV services,” explains Valerie Burwell, the business manager (HR, finance & insurance) at Earlton VR-RV. “We have a full-service staff doing reconditioning and repairs. We also have an RV parts and accessories department,” she says.
Earlton VR-RV has been a Peninsula client since December 2021.
Challenges
Valerie says Peninsula has helped them streamline their HR processes, develop company policies, employment contracts, handbooks, and other documentation. “We have 60 employees across three stores in northern Ontario. Having job contracts, policies, and documents in place makes employee management much easier.”
“We had policies in place previously as well, but they were not taken seriously. Following Peninsula’s advice, we now ask employees to acknowledge and sign off on company policies. So, it is on record they were informed and aware about company policies and procedures,” says Valerie.
Besides HR policies and documentation, Valerie says Peninsula has also helped them with employee management issues. “At one location, we had 12 employees threatening to leave unless we did something about the manager. We didn’t know how to manage such a situation and reached out to Peninsula. They helped us resolve it with good results.”
Valerie says Peninsula’s health & safety service has also been a big help. Besides a workplace COVID-19 policy and health & safety manual, Peninsula’s experts helped them be compliant by setting up a workplace health & safety committee. “We’re bringing in measures to guide staff on workplace hazards and health & safety. It is very important that our technicians are safe at work, and no one gets hurt,” she says.
