Background
Accord Transportation provides transportation services across North America. The company operates out of Surrey, British Columbia, and offers clients and businesses long haul truck load service, regional truck load service and transportation of less than load (LTL) freight.
Their services also include contract fleet, cross dock and warehouse facilities, custom-made logistics solutions and local cartage (in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Toronto).
Accord Transportation has been in this business for 30 years now. They have a dedicated Pacific NW Fleet that serves Washington, Oregon, Alberta and British Columbia.
“We have three locations in BC, and one in Alberta,” says Betty Henderson, Director Customer Care, Accord group. The company also has branches in California and Oregon.
“In total across North America, we have 60 employees,” says Betty. “In Canada, we have a staff of about 50,” she says.
Accord Transportation has been a Peninsula client since September 2020.
Challenges
Betty says the company had been outsourcing their HR management. They recently switched to Peninsula as they were looking for an HR consulting firm that knew both federal and provincial laws well.
“Peninsula has put together all our handbooks, documentation and HR policies,” says Betty. “The service has been very good. We had a few HR issues related to recalling employees after a temporary layoff and related to medical leave. Peninsula provided me with the information I needed in a quick and timely manner,” says Betty.
